Maria Bergström

Maria Bergström, MSc, PhD, Reg.OT is an occupational therapist and lecturer at the Department of Health, Medicine and Caring Sciences, Linköping University in Sweden. As an occupational therapist, she has worked with different patient groups, such as stroke and dementia. Furthermore, she has a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy, and her master’s thesis focused on how persons with rheumatoid arthritis managed pain in their everyday life. As their social environment had a big impact, she continued to focus on this aspect in her PhD project. Her doctoral thesis and main research interest concern people with rheumatoid arthritis and, particularly, what role their significant others have in the patients’ everyday lives.
