Ricardo Coelho
Ricardo Coelho, PhD, is a Project Leader in the Ovarian Cancer Research group at the Department of Biomedicine, University Hospital Basel, Switzerland. After beginning his research career in Portugal at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto, and the Institute for Research and Innovation in Health (i3S), he gained international research experience during his PhD through scientific exchanges at Karolinska Institute, in the Precision Medicine group, and at the Ovarian Cancer Research group at the University Hospital of Basel, before undertaking postdoctoral training and establishing his current position in Basel, where he now leads a research arm within the ovarian cancer group.
Dr. Coelho's research focuses on the tumor microenvironment in high-grade serous ovarian cancer, with particular emphasis on tumor-immune cell interactions and the mechanisms underlying treatment response and resistance. His work combines patient-derived ex vivo culture models, functional drug and immunotherapy testing, and multi-omics approaches (single-cell and bulk transcriptomics, proteomics) to identify predictive biomarkers of treatment efficacy.
