Gunnar Johanson

Gunnar Johanson has been a professor of toxicology at the Institute of Environmental Medicine at Karolinska Institutet for 25 years. His research focuses on key issues in toxicological risk assessment, including the uptake and metabolism of chemical substances in the body, acute health effects, biomarkers, 3R (reduction of animal experiments), and how limits are set. He has participated in several international expert committees, including those that develop limits for occupational health (SCOEL, Nordic Expert Group), chemical disasters (AEGL), and emissions from building materials (EU-LCI).
