In-Hospital Diabetes Management with Continuous Glucose Monitoring

In this MEDtalk, Mikkel Thor Olsen, MD, PhD, Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen, Denmark, presents the DIATEC randomised controlled trial in hospitalised patients with type 2 diabetes. Continuous glucose monitoring, combined with structured insulin titration algorithms and dedicated inpatient diabetes teams, improved time in range and reduced both hyperglycaemia and hypoglycaemia compared with standard point-of-care testing. These improvements were associated with fewer in-hospital complications.
