ECCO 2019: Bone mineral disease is insufficiently evaluated in patients with IBD

Patients with inflammatory bowel disease are at risk of developing metabolic bone disease. At the same time no general agreement regarding osteoporosis screening in IBD patients exists. This study shows with 10 years of follow up, that increased attention to IBD patient at risk of metabolic bone disease must be prioritized and guidelines on this matter are warranted.
