Unidentified Trigger can Prompt Pathological Changes Many Years Prior to Clinical Onset of Crohn’s Disease and Colitis Ulcerosa
In recent years, more knowledge about the preclinical development of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis has become available. In this MEDtalk, Jonas Rudbæk, PhD student at PREDICT at Aalborg University, Denmark, explains how systemic inflammatory changes exist in preclinical development many years before the diagnosis of IBD. The unidentified trigger may induce pathological changes, including dysregulated immune responses, dysbiosis, intestinal barrier dysfunction, and glycol changes.
