Patients’ Gender Roles and Coping Strategies Are Important Topics in Healthcare Professionals’ Dialogue with Crohn’s Patients

How do patients with Crohn’s disease and perianal fistulas experience the impact of the disease on their sexuality, and how do they perceive the dialogue with healthcare professionals about this topic? This was explored in a recent study, presented in this MEDtalk by IBD nurse Karina Winther Andersen. The conclusion points towards an approach from a bio-psycho-social perspective, including healthcare professionals’ dialogue with these patients about gender roles and coping strategies as important topics.
